AK Lightning Bolt FAQ

One of the true AK innovations of the last 60 years, the AK Lightning Bolt™, is a left-side cocking  system. The AK Lightning Bolt™ consists of a left side cocking bolt carrier and a top cover. Or, at the customer's request, we can take an existing bolt carrier and top cover and convert them to an AK Lightning Bolt™.

This project (at just over 1 year old in 2009) has already put hundreds of units into service here in the United States and abroad. Several units have recently been through a punishing 7,000 round torture test.

Tried and tested, you can expect the following:
Much Faster Reloads
 
Increased air flow to cool the weapon during long strings of fire
 
The shooting hand will stay on the grip during all weapon manipulations
 

The Generation 2 AK Lightning Bolt™ (pictured above) shares all the features of its 2008 predecessor with the retention of the right side charging handle. This will allow ambidextrous use and allow safeties that have a bolt hold open notch to be used with our product.

Each unit is serialized and has a corresponding born on date at our facility.  All AK Lightning Bolts come with a 1 year warranty against mfg. defects.

The AKLB Generation 2 VZ-58:
The dual charging handle VZ-58 is the latest in the AKLB stable. The time and attention to detail will floor you. You will not be able to tell the original and the fabricated charging handle apart. We went all out on these to showcase some new production materials, and procedures. The results were beyond what we were expecting. We tried to take 2 test units to failure but succeeded in only bending the charging handles.
